First Care Women’s Clinic provides free STI/STD testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, and HIV. All blood and urine specimens for STI/STD testing are processed by Labcorp.
Free treatment is provided for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. Testing is administered to non-pregnant women and their male partners. The STD testing process includes meeting with a trained consultant to discuss risk factors and treatment.
If you are sexually active, it’s important to be tested. You could have a sexually transmitted disease and be completely unaware of it. Sexually Transmitted Infections (or sexually transmitted diseases) can be spread from partner to partner and don’t always have noticeable symptoms.
While STI/STD testing is confidential, we are required by law to report positive test results to the department of health.
STD Testing – Did You Know?
According to the CDC:
Most people who have chlamydia don’t know it since the disease often has no symptoms.
- Chlamydia is the most commonly reported STD in the United States.
- Sexually active females younger than 25 years, as well as older women with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners, or a sex partner who has a sexually transmitted infection, need testing every year.
- Although it is easy to cure, chlamydia can make it difficult for a woman to get pregnant if left untreated.
